     Our ABG mix is the true Atlanta Botonical Gardens Recipe with no fillers or cheap replacements.  We use premium tree fern fiber, milled sphagnum moss, organic peat moss,  horticultural charcoal, and fir bark mixed to the exact specifications required for proper drainage and to provide needed nutrients for your plants. We do not skimp on tree fern fiber, even though this is the most expensive and hardest to procure portion of the recipe.

     ABG mix naturally has a lot of air pockets perfect for supporting both springtails and isopods. Isopods will slowly break down organic matter within the ABG mix, making the nutrients available to your plants. Springtails will eat any fungi that grow on or in your substrate.

     Although tree fern fiber is expensive, it is a necessary component of a true ABG mix and fillers such as expanded perlite can be hazardous to your frogs if small pieces are swallowed. We don't believe in sacrificing quality or risking the health of our frogs. At the same time, we don't believe in charging an exorbitant price for substrate.
