This substrate was formulated specifically for the needs of salamanders, but is excellent for pacman frogs as well. This substrate has a higher (7-8) pH than our typical substrates due to the needs of forest salamanders such as marbled, spotted, and tiger salamanders. Additionally, this substrate is finely screened to remove any Impaction risks or rough materials that could damage the fragile skin of salamanders. Due to the burrowing habits and moisture needs of salamanders and pacman frogs, this fine-grained substrate holds both moisture and burrow walls exceptionally well.
